For Manabie, a live English class depends on more than a clear video feed. Teachers need to hear each student, respond to pronunciation, and keep group discussions moving without awkward pauses. SIRAYA helped the education platform bring Agora RTC into its existing environment to support natural, reliable interaction as its online classes expanded.
Customer Overview
Manabie is a Singapore-based education technology company that helps education providers deliver and manage digital learning. Its teacher-led English programs include one-to-one lessons and small group classes, where students learn through conversation, pronunciation practice, and discussion.
In these classes, teachers do more than present material. They listen closely, correct mistakes in the moment, and invite students to participate. The quality of the live connection directly shapes how confidently students speak and how smoothly a lesson unfolds.
The Challenge: Keep Every Conversation in Sync
Even a brief delay can disrupt a live class. Students and teachers may speak over one another, a pronunciation correction may arrive too late, or a discussion may lose momentum. As Manabie grew its online teaching business, it needed consistent audio and video across regions and across the different devices and home networks used by students.
The platform also needed to manage long-term communications costs and preserve service stability. Any improvement had to work with its existing Google Cloud environment and fit around active class schedules, without a large-scale platform migration.
The Solution: Real-Time Media Built Around Live Teaching
SIRAYA introduced Agora RTC as the real-time audio and video layer for Manabie’s teacher-led English classes. Low-latency media transmission helps questions, answers, pronunciation feedback, and group discussions follow one another more naturally, giving teachers more room to focus on teaching instead of managing the call.
Agora RTC also provides media optimization and adaptation to changing network conditions. This helps maintain class continuity when students join from different devices or less reliable home connections.
SIRAYA integrated the solution alongside Manabie’s existing Google Cloud infrastructure. This approach allowed the team to improve live communication without moving the entire platform, while regional technical and commercial support helped it manage the service as usage grew.
The Outcomes: More Classes, Consistent Interaction
Three times as many online classes
Manabie’s number of online classes grew 3× while it continued to offer teacher-led small group learning. The RTC foundation supported more classes running at the same time without changing the interactive teaching model.
Cross-region latency of 50–800 ms
Manabie reported cross-region audio and video latency in the 50–800 ms range, supporting more responsive exchanges between teachers and students in different locations.
Room to grow within the existing platform
By adding a real-time media layer to its current cloud environment, Manabie gained more flexibility to expand live teaching while limiting the disruption and operational risk of a full infrastructure move.
Manabie is also evaluating SIRAYA Model Router for future AI-assisted teaching scenarios. That exploration is separate from the live RTC deployment and the outcomes above.
